I need some advice in killing this aptasia. I have never ever had aptasia in my tank and now i got 1 after 2 years of having the tank up and running. I have tried to inject it with lemon juice, and have also tried boiling water injection. the problem i am having is this aptasia is right smack dab in the center of a large creme sickle zoa colony. When i try to inject it , it will very quickly retract into a hole in the LR. I want to get rid of it before it spreads and i have a million of them.

any suggestions how to kill it without causing harm to the zoas? The aptasia in question is too large for peppermint shrimps, it's about the size of a single large zoa polyp.

    thanks

I used aptasia X to kill a large aptasia in my Zoe colony. I had to slow insert the syringe close to the aptasia and then rapidly squirt it with ptasia X before it retreated.

i tried aptasia X first actually. and i definitely got it with a good squirt, it was covering the oral disc for sure. I thought it was a goner but a week later it came back out but this time bleached. same size as before but white in color. its now back at a light tan color. I didn't like the aptasia X because all my corals in the area closed up and didn't reopen for a whole day, and it didn't work it just made it bleach. I could try it again but i would worry how many treatments do i gotta do before it dies, i would assume if it kills aptasia it will kill other coral that ingests the stuff.

I almost wanna wait for it to get all comfy and stretch right out and grab it behind the head and rip it out. but i would likely get a million baby aptasia right?

I use a two part buffer for dosing by brightwell. I mix that solution in a small cup and inject it with a small needle purchased and a pharmacy. Doesn't always work the first time. Patience and time will eventually get rid of them.
