So I got clearance from the wife to change to a new tank and rework how I have things set up. Right now sump and fuge are on and under separate table. Looking to consolidate all into one area. So here's the question I'm looking to get a more shallow tank(my standard 90 is to tall for me and a pain to work on) and not sure what I want. I want to keep roughly the same gallonage just not sure if I want a square foot print or longer foot print. I made this to see if anyone can gimme some experiences on which they preferred. I was looking at a 36x37x18
    48x24x18
72x18x18( doubt wife will let me though lol)
And some others I can't remember off hand. Well let me know what you guys think.

I like that dimension alot but wife is really fighting on the 6ft tank lol. I got a perfect 6 and a half foot section of wall to pu it too.

    The 70 gallon is a cool size. It's like a wide 55.

Well I think I lost the 6ft tank. So its down to a square shallow or 4ft long shallow. I kind of like 48x24x18 but I also like how the square tanks look. Here's a question I have an mp40 and I have a nice wave in my 90 now. Would I be able to replicate that in a square tank?

I really like the square shallow tanks too. How much room do you have to work with?

Probably 3ft Front to back and I think she limited me to 4ft. The thing with a square tank is I wanna be able to see all sides and I gotta double check that I got the room.

I think I have decided on the 36x37x18 now I need advice on lighting. Need to decide between halides and LED. I know LED is expensive but so can quality halide. I if I do run halide I would prefer only one which would probably men needing a 400w to get the penetration I need with the height I'm going to need to get the spread...right? Anyone with an idea of how many cree leds I would need? I'm transferring all my stuff from my current tank which is almost all acros, montis, and other sps.

no led's they are extremely expensive and dont work nearly as good as metal halide, sure they dont give off heat and use less electricity but what good does that do if you lose that much money in coral anyway.
