Help on sump??????

K i have a 20g high tank i want to turn into a sump but i have absoulty no idea were to start , like what to use for a over flow/pump or what not . i just know i dont want to drill the tank i would appreciate any help thanks.

 

well you need to buy some type of overflow or make your own there is a thread here on how to do it.

It may help if we knew a little more about what you are trying to accomplish with your sump. Things like

Turning it into a Fuge, Moving equipment into it, Adding water volume, ect..

As for an overflow, check out the CPR overflows, maybe not the cheapest but they work well as long as you keep them clean and use an aqualifter pump with em.

Continuous Siphon Overflow

You can also buy baffles precut from ebay, check out this auction. If you can get the materials you can cut it yourself a little cheaper. But this is a good starter for a 20 gal and at least you can get the idea of a basic sump/refugium.

Then you just have to add a return pump that matches the overflow that you make or buy..

On my sump/refugium i also added a water level controller to the return pump for extra security
