Help please I need to lower my pH!

I recently (~4 months ago) started using Kalk in my top off water to supplement CA and Alk and after being away for the long weekend I needed to add a rather large dose of top off water. So I got back yesterday and added about 2 gallons of top off, which is about twice as much as I had previously done since I started using kalk in my top off.

When I got home this morning I noticed all of my snails had fallen off of the glass and rocks and were really sluggish, then I noticed my LPS corals were looking awful, so I immediately did a 20% water change. After letting the new water cycle for a bit I checked the pH and it was registering at 8.8, so I think I'm burning my corals

My salinity is at 1.025 ammonia is 0.25 ppm, nitrates are at 0, and dkh is 6 which seems odd to me given the high pH.

What's the best way to gently lower my pH? I've been cruising along for over a year now and with great growth and no deaths in the tank, so I'm really bummed to have f'd this up!! Any suggestions?

Go to your favorite restaurant where they know you, explain your problem, and ask for a couple of cups of seltzer water. (It will be just the soda without any flavored syrups). Dose a little, test. Then repeat as necessary.

 

I used seltzer once to lower my pH once in the begining. It worked really well.

 

i use vinager. its done great for me when ever they have gotten high but im also dosing kalk
