Are you sure they are trying to eat it? Maybe they are cleaning the crap off of it.

The diffrence is in the eyes. Both look alike but the eyes are diffrent. Don't quote me but the eyes on a camal are bigger I think.

    IMO, you are probably OK.

When you say you mounted the shroom to a rock... what do you actually mean? Did you glue them on? If you did, then 1. shrimp will clean the excess glue and this is normal in my experience and 2. the glue will not hold the shroom anyway (FYI).

Could you post a pic of the shrimp in question please?

I highly doubt a peppermint is killing or eating a shroom. I've had several peppermints and have never seen any show any interest in my shrooms... but they do go after glue and new stuff in the tank every time... but never hurt anything...

if it's a camel... that's different and I, personally, wouldn't keep a camel shrimp in my tank.

camels and peppermints look very similar but are easy to tell apart when you know the difference...

meh. maybe. there's a much easier way though.

camel are distinctly and vividly red and white like a peppermint candy.

peppermint shrimp are more of a faded red and white. IMO, the names are backwards from how they look ::)

    EDIT:

I've seen them mislabeled at more than one LFS in my area. Give me a pic and I will tell you.
