SO, yesterday everything was fine and dandy with my tank. The weather was about 85 df yesterday where I live with 80% humidity. Today the temp is 70 df with 30% humidity. The temp in the tank hasn't changed in those two days. I came home today and certain corals were looking terrible:

Assuming its not water params (didn't test) have been fine for 6 mo and haven't changed anything. What else could it be?

Frogspawn: usually 8-9" now u can only see a rim of green where the heads are on the skeleton

Birdsnest: Polyps usually extended fully now not at all. I have an acro 12" away from the nest and are polyps are out and fine

Nepthea: Looks like it has tears in its green skin or chemical burns

Lettuce monti: no polyps are visable usually all polyps are extended fully

    Corals not affected:

    green favia
    Red/green open brain
    Several colonies of zoanthids
    Acro
    riccordia
    Sun polyps

    Anyone?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Without the basic parameters like SG, ammonia...... very hard to even speculate.

An image as well really helps. Macros of the corals most at issue.

Can you check for stray voltage?

I know there is stray voltage the outlet I am running the whole set up on is not grounded and sometimes voltage can run through the hood. But never gets to the water. And if it did why wouldn't all the corals be damaged?

    SG: 1.025
    Temp: 80
    CA: 500

    Thats all I know

    Pics:
U can see the nepthea under the chromis where it looks like the flesh is burnt or torn. The other pic is some slug could it be the cause. It was a small hard plate on its back best pic I can get of it.

The snail is a Stomatella, harmless.

Stray voltage can do very strange things to a tank and it's inhabitants. Not all corals, fish and inverts will react the same or present with the same type of damage.

The birdsnest next to the soft coral looks like it's really having an issue.

I would certainly look into how things are grounded and type of strip you are using.

i need you to do one thing, give your self a cut on your finger. stand in a bucket of saltwater and stick your finger in the tank. thats how you test for stray voltage. lol. i used to have a tank that every time i was cleaning it and my hand came towards the surface i felt a sting. so then i found out it was my powerhead. even if this isnt stray voltage i would still get the tank grounded

How can I ground the tank if there are no grounded outlets in the home?

So really this is the way to test for stray voltage? I couldnt just use my multimeter?
