Ok so I just tested again with my own kit and my neighbors personal kit (not the big expensive deal but the same as mine) they both tested accurate to eachother at 40 which gives some relief but still too high IMO

still high, but fixable. I would guess your source water has nitrates in it, but also your tank is producing it, how old is the tank again? I would set up a refugium, with macro algae especially Chaeto, this will also help to keep your ph stable.

Well A - I do not play games or fudge numbers and wouldnt on something like this since my tank is overly important to me... B - I find it a bit offensive that someone would even think that I would but understand since others might do that... and C - this is exactly why I stay out of forums and only use them for informational reading rather than discussing things - because people like you tick me off because you assume the worst of others.... As stated previously I have a sump with 30 gallons of water in it... and when I stated numbers I also said approximately as I personally did not do the math on them... But its all good I will figure this out on my own through more research as I have always done... You all have a nice forum glad I spent a day wasting my time in it... Thanks

sargeNnikita were not all this blunt here, and most of us try to help. I would never say your wrong but that your testing is wrong. the other way is kind of rude IMO. but so was me asking about the coral collecting neighbor.

At any rate, if what your reading is 40 no3 ppm its not unheard of on here we see it a lot. a fuge will help greatly, and so will finding out what your source water's nitrates are prior to adding it to the tank. if you are using ro and still are getting high nitrates out of the unit, I would consider replacing the membranes

Thank you for the not so blunt response... I own an RO/DI unit and that water is tested before it is put into the tank... It tests zero and the membranes are less than a month old... Its all good I will figure it out

The sad part is I do have a lot of knowledge in this whole game because I research every little thing... Just as I do with my breed of dog... and rabbits... and hamsters.... and birds.... and on to my own personal business as well as many many other things... But I do not ever join forums to help others because of people
