I have never used an airator in my tanks. I have read that they are to make people feel that there is enough air in the water. I use a wet/dry filter and the tumbling action of going down the overflow to mix in air. I have always heard/read that bubbles are not wanted in a tank. They cause problems. If you have any sponges in the tank the air will kill them if it comes in contact with the bubbles. I think some corals are sensitive like that as well.

if you have a skimmer or wet/dry a airator is redundant.

Anywhere is fine, and it won't make a difference.

Ok thanks, I took out the airator because it wasn't allowing the sand to settle down. I noticed that the slightest of movements disrupt the sand, does this mean that every time the fish move when I get fish, sand will go flying everywhere? Does this happen to anyone else?

My sand was easily moved when I first got it. Now, it stays on the bottom pretty well.

Just wondering, Because I have been reading up on what fish I would like to have in this tank, ( I like to plan ahead ) but is this tank suitable for a Yellow Head Jawfish?
