The tank is too clean. Its micro bubbles are attaching to the glass. in a couple days it goes away. Also if you airate your salt mix better prior to adding it will aid a bit.

i would think that would be easy to wipe away if that was the case... it has been like this for 4-5 days now... this is a thick residue that is kinda rough when you rub your hand on it... idk.. just asking.. thanx for the input..

hmmm. calcium build up on the glass? A tank that was left outside full and the sun dried it. No clue? can you scrape it clean with a flat blade?
and then be left with just bubbles?

Looking again, It does appear as hard water deposits, you can see layers. Add to that the discription that its rough.

I am guessing you will have to start over. Remove the sand and save. Clean the tank with some lime away or CLR. Rinse rinse rinse keep rinsing be sure to get any chemical residue that can get trapped under the top rim.
A slower method but not as much rinsing or scrubbing (less chance of scratching tank) is add a gallon of vinegar after you remove sand bed and let cycle for a day. Then rub off easy with a magnet scraper or simular soft object. Drain rinse refill.

Was the tank that way before you filled it? I can't even wrap my head around this. Did you clean the tank well before you filled it? If you cleaned it what did you use?

May sound dumb... Try a new Mr. Clean magic eraser on it and see if that helps take it off. Shouldn't hurt anything if its a new eraser because you aren't using any chemicals.

It looks like calcium build up... Which only happens when water evaporates... Not while its full.. And the finger smudge spots that look fine make me think when it occurred the oils left behind from a touch protected the area... This is really weird to me...

Now that is quite odd. I wish I could help you but I am now clueless. Never seen or heard of something like that in a new tank setup.

What is the water temp? If its hot could be calcifacation.

All i have left is two questions...

Did you use ro/di water when you mixed the salt?

Also, have you added anything to your water other than the salt mix?

At this point I just want to try to figure out what the heck caused it so if you set it up again it doesn't happen again.
