Hello, I just got a brand spanking new Salifert Nitrate kit today. I read the instructions, and here is what I got after the 3 minutes or so it said to wait. I want to say from this picture, my nitrates are around 5ppm. I would like to know if I am close, I set the cup on the results card and could see the 10ppm but not the 5ppm rectangle. So, maybe it would be better to say, my nitrates are between 5-10 ppm?

Take a look and let me know! Thanks!

Your photo doesn't show what we need to see. You should post the card next to the test vial with a white background like this:

You have to look down threw the test tube with Salifert. Looking threw the side is just for the low range test.

Yup. You either have to look from the top down (take the lid off) or from the side. If you're looking from the side, the chart is divided by 10 (low range, so 1 is 0.1, 5 is 0.5, etc).

It that's the case, you shoulda shot the pic straight down with the lid off, as evolved mentioned.

I can only see/find one picture, and from that picture the result looks upwards of 100 to me.

Is this a tank which is being cycled?
