So my tank has MI (Ick)... I am starting the Hypo treatment and since I don't have any emergency tank I will be treating the entire DT...

I was trying to save my CUC crew because I heard that they will not survive the low salinity levels...

I do have a spare fish bowl I can use. Is it possible to get some sand and water out and a piece or two of live rock and scoop out whatever I can of my CUC crew and put them in it while I treat my DT?

I will not have a backup filter or heater... but if need be can pull out my heater from my DT and pop it into the fishbowl once a day to get the water to be warm enough...

Is it possible to save my cuc crew or is it a lost cause?

Do you have a big rubbermaid container? You could use that as a hospital tank, or use it for your CUC.

I'd just like to say that just because your tank gets ich doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Fish will get immune to it if fed right and are in a stress free aquarium.

Also, maybe you should buy a tank since you will need one for QTing your new additions. If you rid your tank of ich now and in the future put new fish in with QTing first, they could bring ich back into the tank.

There is a Reef Safe Ich medication out there now. Can't remember the name for the life of me, but I used it and it worked flawlessly.

If any water moves with your inverts, so does the ich.

As far as any mediciations go for ich, I have heard nothing but bad things. I want to take the safest / most proven / least stressful approach for the fish.

The fish that have ich are 2 O. Clowns. Both seem to be eating just fine though...

I do not have a big rubbermaid container, and I dont believe anyone answered my question so I will ask again: Will the fishbowl suffice, or lets say I even get a small tank, but will it be ok w/o a filter and a heater for the CUC atleast?

Do you guys (TRIGGERFISH) reccomend I do nothing and just let the fish become immune on their own?

As I said before, and then got verbally attacked by another member, many of us don't treat for ich. Most fish are strong enough to fight it off and then become "immune" (less sensitive) to it and it doesn't affect them again. Some do die from it though. Usually clowns can fight it off fine. Keep the water clean and feed good food with added vitamins.

However, it you do not treat the main tank, then ich will continue to be present in the tank.

You have to do what is best for you.

Ick Attach by kordon is the only thing that stands out. Followed by treating with melafix works as well too.

Heres the thing, You have many options in this Hobby to treat it.

If the fish Is healthy, eating and not showing to much stress from it other then the parasite itself. I would just Keep it in the tank and make sure it gets a good diet and clean water and followed by a melafix treatment to help prevent secondary infections from when the parasite detaches.

Using Reef Safe Meds... Not always up to par to help fix the problem at a rapid pace But sometimes they work as well Ive heard them doing nothing.

HypoSalinity - You risk issues with coral and inverts without a qt tank. or some type of setup to separate the creatures

Copper - Same with above. However please watch the fish on this, Any wrong amount added can kill the fish... (If you add to much per your tanks volume) Make sure there is lots of oxygen and flow, keep up on your water changes and follow the instructions to the word. Some fish cant tolerate copper period so make sure you know if your fish is ok to do so.

QT- Make sure if you choose this route that the fish are compatible with eachother. Ive seen people QT stuff and still get the parasite because of an harassing tankmate or the tank isnt correct for the fish.

There's a hole lot that could be argued. Me personally Didn't QT. Bought from a good dealer... They got a bit but it went away by itself with feeding and diet suppliments. People can argue, all they want but it comes up to you. make the choice that Is the most appropriate for the situation.

On a side note, Please dont use any non reef safe meds in the Display Tank. It sometimes can soak into the rocks and sand and leach back out. If you take a non reef safe medicated route, your gonna need a tub or tank, + a good filtration. etc.

FYI Petco in some areas are having their $ for Gallon Sale. So you could get a 10Gallon for 10$ to QT and filters are only like 20-40$. No rocks needed no sand. Just some PVC tubing to let the fish hide if stressed out.
