it seems to be the ich season. im dropping salinity in my tank as we speak, i moved cleaning crew to a rubbermaid container with some rocks and sand. i dont have any heater there since the heater on my main tank hardly ever turn on. i have the temp in my house stable all time. i was talking to the aquarium guy in the pet store he said the same thing about the fish can fight off ich and he said he does a "salinity shock" to the tank if ich shows up. he said he drops salinity for 24 hrs and raise it back again. the process takes him a week (3 days down and 3 days up) as he said it helps harden the fish skin. i donno if any1 here heard about this method. he said he keeps corals and inverts in there and every thing survives. im gonna do the 30 days since i dont have anything in tank worth saving beside the fish.

"harden fish skin" sounds kinda like snake oil to me. maybe osmotic pressure has something to do with it, but that effect wouldn't last long.
