Add a heater to the list and you should be ready to start the cycle.

Are you going to transfer the contents of the smaller tank to the new tank?

You can pretty much have no lag time and jsust transfer the whole tank with no issues, and no waiting for a cycle.

Buy pre cured LR or cure it yourself in another tub/ tank and then you can do this the fun and quick way. Be sure to use new sand, and add a bunch of the old sand to seed it in the new tank.

I would not transfer all the existing sand. using mostly new with a good few cups of old sand is more than adequate, and safer. If you start digging in the old sand too much, you can release some toxic stuff.

There are some good threads on doing what we both will be doing soon with tank upgrades. Let me find the links for ya.

    transfer nearly complete

i have started to transfer everything from my 2x2x2 to a 4x2x2, i have everything in my 4x2x2 and everything is running fine apart from its only half full of water as i used the 2x2x2`s water. now i have another 2x2x2 full of sea water that has been sitting there for a day now at 26C will this be fine to top my 4x2x2 up with? i am worried that too mutch of a change might harm them.....for example the 4x2x2 is only half full if i use the water from my other 2x2x2 and fill the 4x2x2 will it be fine?

Even if the water that you have in the 2x2x2 was just mixed and stable temp and salinity, you would be just fine.

26c, is that what the bigger tank is running? I forget the celcius conversion to fahrenheit.

I do know 30 degress C is HOT!

Sorry for not finding those links for you. I got tired and fell asleep. It was pretty late around here at that time.

    Sounds like everything went well.

I'd make sure the water you are going to add is the same Temp and PH as the water in the tank. Sound be fine
