    Hey All,

I need some advice/help. I went to do some routine cleaning and filling of GFO/Carbon etc and I had noticed my skimmer was not pulling much skimmate. After checking it out, pulling it out into my utility sink and cleaning it. Then letting it run, it is just not producing near enough bubbles. Hardly the fury it used to have. The pump is jamming through water. The wheel is turning...maybe not enough? Air house is clear and out of the water?

Oh its an older euro reef rs5 or something like that.

    IDEAS? thank!

Make sure the airline is clear. Check where it meets the pump; there's often salt creep there.

Keep in mind also, whenever you clean your skimmer it goes through another breakin period, just not as long as if it was new.

Also make sure you pump is clean. Take it all apart clean the wheel real good. I have just been going through this. It was either not skimming anything or over flowing and getting water everywhere. I cleaned the skimmer body and ran water and vinegar through the pump but that wasn't good enough because crap gets clogged in the wheel.

Yeah I have done all that. The pump is just not producing much bubbles. I think it is starting to go. =( Looks like I need to start looking on CL.

I just dont get it. I have it running. Everything is clear and the wheel is spinning. But minimal bubbles. When these pumps start to go does it have a loss in power?

if you blow air into the airline does it produce more bubbles. I would check the impeller to see if something is wrong or broke.
