HELP! Skimmer is not performing as it should

    yes, it can get clogged at the air intake as well.

    its not clogged, I pulled everything apart a few times. I had the pump tilted to fit in my tight sump. I think it is starting to go. Its spinning for sure but.... I blew in the air hose, clear. everything is clear but the bubbles coming into my skimmer are minimal. argh.

    UPDATE: Protein skimmers DO NOT react the same in fresh water as salt water. Not enough bubble tension in fresh. I put it back in my sump by a whim and bam, back to business.

    Thank you all for your insight though =)

    AND lesson learned.

    Oh I must have missed the part where you said it was in freshwater...it doesn't work in freshwater lol.

    I didn't see where you put it in fresh water. i thought you put it back on your tank.
