Sea Hare has been doing great until this morning when we noticed what looks like an umbilical cord with an air bladder attached to the side of its face just below the right eye. It is approx 1 1/2 in long. Has anyone ever had this problem?

    Hi and Welcome

They have the ability to turn themselves inside out so to speak. It can be a sign of stress, but a picture would really help nail it down.

Looks like a reaction to being irritated. It may have expelled its insides.

Yes it looks like an internal organ. No swim bladder though. How long have you had him ?

They need a constant supply of algae, because that is pretty much all they do is eat. I suspect he is under stress, could be water quality, lack of food, or something is picking on him.

Hope he pulls through, they are cool.

Does it resolve itself? What should I do about it?

Thanks for your response, and we have had him about one week and there is plenty of green algae. The water quality is normal and there is a possibility that it is being bullied by our school of fish. Can it fix itself?

Sometimes, but you have to resolve what is bugging him.

More detail regarding your system may help.

    How old is the tank?

    How big is the tank?

Are you feeding him anything ?

Do you have any current water parameters like ammonia level, specific gravity, pH.......
