Help? Something odd this way came

at this point would Nit test be the best to get?

 

Oh yeah the tap water I use goes through a two stage filter before I teat it but come to think of it those filters are well over a year old
maybe even a year and a half maybe they are not doing anything anymore.

 

I bet that the top off water is contributing if not the main reason. You can grab a basic reef testing kit and that will get you going for now. Salifert are my brand of choice but there are others that will work just as well. I would start there and let us know your results and maybe we can get you going in the right direction.

Try just topping off with R.O., it will help.
