We are hoping that someone can help us identify these little buggers! They are spreading fairly quickly and are taking out some of our corals in the process! As you can see our clowns seem to love them.

They retreat back into their tubes at night, and blossom back out in the morning. They can move as they please around the tank and love to be near a fairly high current.

They hitched a ride in on a piece of rock , as do a lot of things. We have had a problem with Apstasia in the past, but have (hopefully) solved that problem with a couple of peppermint shrimp. But these anemone's (or at least that's what I think they are...) are spreading as fast as the Apstasia did.

Any help with this one would be greatly appreciated. We need to nip them now before they kill everything in our tank.

I can't figure out how to post a pic on this site to save my life...can someone help me with that? (I know, I know....it must be the wife...and well, it is! But I'm the one that's dead set on figuring out what these things are, and then figuring out how to get rid of them!) I posted a pic on our regular Member page of these anemone like critters....just can't figure out how to post it with my comment.

    Thanks so much,
    Morgan and Jon

    Here's what you do.
Hit quick post down there V V and go to "advanced options", click manage attachments. Hit browse, click on your picture, hit upload and then wait! and it will say "file uploading" and it will change and say "uploaded" then close the little screen and hit "submit reply"

If you look at bubble tips online they dont look quite like yours. But mine is the same color and recently split. It also has a longer foot like that.

these are not bubble tips - these are majano and are as much a pest as Aiptasia. Aiptasia x and joes juice will work to kill them but may take a few extra applications. If i was use i would get rid of this light loving anemone! It will just continue to split.

    Good quality pic tho :)

This is what they look like at night. They came into our tank about 6 months ago and now they are everywhere. We just got back from a two week vacation and it seems as if they've doubled since we've been gone.

We killed the Apstasia with lemon juice in a hypodermic needle, as well as a bit of help from a couple of Peppermint Shrimp. I wonder if lemon juice would be of any help with these pesky little dudes....

Thanks for the help so far....I'll work on it tomorrow and keep you guys posted.
