    The mandarin might not have been getting enough to eat.

    Some others might chime in with other ideas, but I would seriously think about trying a new LFS.

    What about the hair algae? Would that make any difference?

    The clowns might, but never the urchin. You'd know if it was the clowns because the fish would definitely show some damage.

    Any flashing or darting around quickly in spurts before any of them died?

    The clowns are in the same family as damsels so they can be aggressive. But I would think that a coral beauty and a tang would be able to take on the clowns.

    I have never heard of hair algae killing fish. I am not familiar with urchins. Sorry, no help on that one.
