HI can anyone give me any ideas on what type off crabs theys two are?! the pictures are not that great !!!!! but its taken me ages to get a pic of the first one as he is very shy!. The first picture he is in the middle of it with tiny dot red eyes and he seems to be a dark grey colour with massive claws and thick legs and the other seems to be furry and stripy but is not as shy as the other one .
    Thanks K

I couldn't find the first one in the pic. You might try to catch it and put in your sump just in case. I have been trying to catch one in my tank. So far I have had snails, hermits, and some zoas disappear. Here is another link.

as a rule of thumb, pointy clawed/hairy crabs are bad. round clawed crabs generally are reef safe. round = scavenger, sharp = hunter.

Try to remove it so that you are safe. It might be a xanthid crab.

i think big clawed crabs aren't reef safe, there big to grip animals with. algae eating crabs have small claws so they can pick at algae.
