hey guys, i am working on a plain triangle shaped corner tank that will be 130-140 US gallons. its demensions are about 36" tall, the sides that will be against the wall are about 42" long, and the front side will be roughly 59.5" long. i calculated it and filled w/ fresh water, it will weigh roughly 1,150 pounds. for the stand, i want to make a basic frame and cover it with some very his plywood. So, i want a suggestion on the type/dimensions of the wood used in the stand's frame.

actually, ive changed it to having the sides against the walls be 3' instead of 3.5' because i have to be able to fit it through the door. Now it will be about 100 gallons and weigh about 130 pounds.

ok, im past the structural dilemma. now, i need help in sealing. i was wondering if i could paint the inside of my tank with blue wood paint and then seal the paint with clear marine epoxy/resin for fiberglass.

Use the epoxy first, then use the epoxy paint.

i am using US composites epoxy, and sweetwater epoxy paint. Both are reef safe. Check my 193g build out and you will find links for the stuff I am using.

I'm not sure why you are considering painting the inside of the tank. I can't think of a single reason to justify this action. Paint the outside. It's better that way.

It sounds like he is making a plywood tank. If so, the inside will need a coating.

You could tint the epoxy, and skip the epoxy paint with the color.

I wouldnt DIY something as important to your tank as this. I would say skimp on lighting before your skimp on the thing keeping the water in your tank.
