    Sorry.
As u can tell im pretty new to this. I recently purchased a remora skimmer for my 75 gallon FOWLR. But the extra box that goes around is giving me a hard time. My water level has to be pretty much filled to the rim. Does this happen to everyone? Would i be better off just taking it off. Any suggestions would really help.

Yeah I had a hard time with that overflow box. Not to mention it is really bulky. If your tank is filled to the rim I am not sure there is much you can do. Lowering the water level may be the easiest option other than not using it. The only other one I can think of is to fill the teeth a bit from the bottom up.. but I don't like that thought too much.

if you are referring to the HOB model - i have one as well and agree that it can be a PITA to adjust. furthermore - be warned that if you do NOT have the black "ziptie" where the pump is inserted into the intake pipe tightened to the max (i use pliers) you also run the risk of the weight and vibrations of a full box to cause the pump to "fall off" the pipe - that gets messy (speaking from experience).

I am contemplating some kind of suction cup or mag-float type mod for mine to help secure it so i dont have the adjustment screws tightened to a death grip on the pump body. At the moment i figured out a sweet spot on mine as far as the tension on the screws etc - but overall a magnetic or suction cup modification might be a good idea for the long haul.

Other than the "less-than" design of the skimmer box connection to the pump, i really have no complaints with the efficiency of the unit itself. Mine works like a champ.

good luck and happy skimming - may your skimmer cup always be full - i dont dare use the phrase "runneth over" in this case :)

Thanks guys. I was also thinking of some kinda of suction cup too. I wanna ask u, how high is ur cup at collects the ugly stuff. I was reading that u can move the rubber ring. But to tell u the truth i have no idea about that stuff. I just plug and left it alone. If possible can i see a pic of ur setup. If its not to much to ask.

You can also drill a 1/8 hole on the lower side of the skimmer box so it does not let the pump run dry. Good luck.
