One of my favorite zoas has been closed up for 2 days - very unusual. I also noticed one of the polyps had turned white. Tonight, I grabbed my magnifying glass and saw this "thing" right by the zoas. I grabbed it with tweezers and put it in measuring cup - it's sitting on my kitchen counter now....awaiting its fate - back in the tank or in the toilet?

That's what I was afraid of - it sure is ugly - looks like a "tick of the sea."

http://http://www.chucksaddiction.com/index.htmlcould it also possibly be a sea cucumber?

just was looking through this and saw one that had some of the same characteristics. im probably wrong, but just adding my 2 cents , which is .022 in your yank maoney. :)

I don't know, Guy. I looked also and thought the sea cucumber was more "smooth." This thing is not smooth at all. I've never seen it before and just got out the magnifying glass because it was so unusual for the zoas to be closed up - all my other zoas look great.

Yep those little buggers "sprout" out of nowhere, I used the turkey baster to suck them out. I noticed my Zoas were not opening and then I saw those guys, not sure what they were and I decidied to remove them. After they were gone my Zoas opened fine

About 2 weeks later I noticed a few more, I used to see them on the glass and never new what they were-"just another wonder of the sea that grows from out of the blue" then I spent time surfing the web and ran across them.

I have a 24" pyrex dropper I got for spot feeding, it works well also.

Once they are gone you will see the Zoas open like they used to. I have seen them come back over time so dont be surprised, if the Zoas dont open for a while look closely and you may find more

    Good luck!

I thought he looked kind of cool...maybe it's just me. I thought it was a nudi of some kind, but didn't know if that meant good or bad. So I told my to take some of those "macro images she's famous for" (if you are on our thread any, you'll know what I mean), so she did and voila. We have the culprit named and sentenced.
