Ok i bought 2 Octopus skimmers, One locally and one i had put in a bid on ebay. I ended up winning the auction. So i held up my end and paid for it. So now i have 2. They are suppose to both be Octopus 110 skimmers but they look different. One has a screw on collection cup, the other just sits on top. Can someone let me know the difference and which one is better so i can sell the other? Thanks

i've never seen the shorter guy in action but I have seen the taller one. they will both work well but I would go with the taller one because of more dwell time in the chamber. (the bigger the skimmer the more dwell time the microbubbles are gonna have)

The shorter one (the one on the left) looks exactly like mine - Octopus NW-110.

The one on the right looks like this one:
Coral Vue Home Page based on the neck and the union coupling used to connect the cup to the body. None of the "newer" skimmers that I found in a lookup resemble the one on the left without the union coupling. That would lead me to believe the one on the right is newer, just dirtier, than the one on the left. Can you measure the diameter of the body and the overall height of the skimmers? The heights given by Coralvuew on the skimmers is from the floor to the top of the collection cup and thats about the best way to figure out - for sure - what they are. Which one did you buy locally? I would guess the one on the right.

its the newest model.the one on the left.

i have the 150 and it skims like mad. pluus that newer cup design is nice . i think it makes it some what more overflow proof. but i found the bottom hole could be a lil bigger. but for the most part it will not let your cup fill with water if it overflows.

the one with the union is old. on rc there is a long mod page for it that dates back sometime. trust me the one on the left is the new model.
