Help With A DIY Stand

I pick up a LeeMar Starphire Glass tank For $90.00.The dimensions are 47 1/2 wide X 18 1/2 deep X 25 1/2 tall and glass is 1/2 in thick Starphire Glass on 3 sides and 1/2in thick glass on the back and bottom. So want to make a stand for the tank and need some help on what kind of wood and size of wood to build it out of. The tank is very heavy

Okay the real question here is how did you get this for $90.00?

 

Why can't I be that lucky? Oh that's right, if I found a good deal like that, my wife would say NO.

 

I realize this is an old thread but if you still need help this is how i built mine...

2x4 up rights on all four corners. two to each corner butted up in a "L" fashion.
2x4 base just to keep everyhting square and so i could make the bottom of the inside wood as well
2x6 horizontal supports all the way around.

wraped the entire thing in 3/4" luan.

I have a 90g on mine with 150lbs of sand and it didn't even creek or moan lol
I would feel comfortable putting a tank up to 300g on mine.

if you lived close by i would just give you mine. I have to build a new one for my new tank.

 

also if you would like i can take pics and make up some blue prints for you

 

Here is how I built mine, but it is only for a 40 gallon breeder, but very sturdy.
