I have a 120gal and a 55gal tank and 2 tangs (blue and yellow). I want to put them in the same tank as the 55 is getting too small and was always meant to be a quarantine tank. What is the best way to make this work?

I was going to add the blue tang into the tank, rearrange all the rockwork, then turn the lights off and go to bed. If this is the best way (aside from returning one of the fish). How long should I let them fight it out before I know whether it is not going to work? (Last time I tried I did not rearrange the rocks and they fought for two weeks before both getting ick. I want to avoid this.

Id regarage a few areas of the tank, Nothing drastic. Even the slightest change in the rock structure will throw off the fish a bit. They probably will have a bout again trying to find whos who in the pecking order and whos area of the tank is whose.

Seems how it went with my Fish.

One thing I normally do to My purple with a new addition Is Adjust his area of the tank. He normally has a fit but settles down by the time the new addition is in.. I didnt adjust the tank for the New achilles .. Seeing how its larger then my purple figuring it would cool his jets if the fish couldnt enter his territory. Seemd to work out well. Just a few slight nips and signs of aggression and the tank mellowed out 24 hours later.

Great fish choices! :). My largest fish is My achilles at 8" With his 1" streamers included. He is a beast at that but really enjoys the tank, The rest of the fish are under 6-4" And the clowns are well dwarfs.

One thing you could try Is, Removing the yellow if you can, adjust 1/5 the tank or more if you like acclimate the regal in and a few hours later acclimate the yellow in. Kinda makes it like a new home for them.
