Hey everyone I'm having some pretty weird growths on one of my rocks that has now spread to form another colony on the other side of the tank. It's translucent/white and looks like an encrusting sponge that has the shape of mountains.

Wow...wild little mountains. I use to take a sample to the University labs for definition of the growths. Most local universities have a marine biology dept. that are more then willing to study new growths. It makes for a good PR with the local proffesors and adds to your needs for study. Have you drop over to your LFS for some possible answers?

Nice crystal mountains, I would nip it as soon as possible, before it might kill off something more valuable in your tank.

    Good luck,

    Maximo
