That's your water level adjustment on there. When the ring is too high, you get wet skimmate, when too low, you get nada.

so how do you know when it is right? from what your saying i believe wet skimate is just watered down skimate which mine probably is because its not very dark in color corect?

Right, tea colored water is wet skimmate. I adjusted mine so I barely could see bubbles at the bottom of the tube in the collection cup. From there, the smaller bubbles will form in to larger bubbles and push all the way out past the tube and voila! Dry skimmate.

Mind you, there still is a break-in period. Don't expect to skim correctly immediately.

I've heard of Pro's being used with mag 5's, but not regular remoras.

ya i think i read your post really its only 100 gph more than the mj1200 which is what i have and that is no head length so i think it would be fine but you might have to adjust the collection cup because the bubbles would go crazy lol because of more flow if you do try it let me know for refence when i get my sump going
    thanks

What did you wash it out with? I use a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar to clean out my equipment. You can go 25/75 water/vinegar, but I just like to make sure everything is nuked quickly. If soap was used or your hands touched any part of the bubble tube, be prepared to wait a bit. Not to mention that Remoras don't like it when you put your hand in the tank. Mine takes about an hour to start skimming again after dealing with my oils. My general guess would be a good 5-7 days before you start see real dry, nasty skimmate. This also depends on your bio load
