I'm just finishing up the woodworkings of my canopy for my 72gallon. I now need to sand and seal/paint. I plan on painting the exterior a black gloss. I got a can of Rustoleum high gloss oil based paint for that. What I'm wondering is what to seal and paint the interior of the canopy with considering there will be splashing and condensation. Anyone know whats reef safe, reflective and that will seal the wood. Its 3/4" pine.

I saw that video and for some reason he never mentioned what kind of type of primer for the inside of the canopy.

Ive been searching around and a few people used a white primer then a high gloss white oil based paint with no problems. I got some white kilz and will probably pick up some rustoleum high gloss white. Anyone see problems with that?

We had to cut and edit the video so it wasn't forever long (actually, Jwin did). ;) We used an outdoor primer that I already had on hand for the entire canopy and let it dry overnight. I had a heavy-duty high gloss outdoor white for wood (for decks and patios - high traffic areas) on hand that we had used on our deck this summer - that was used for the inside. For the outside, I also used a Rustoleum premixed in black, but used a satin finish to match the stand. Good luck with your canopy - I'd love to see some pictures! :)
