    I've encountered different opinions on trying to get rid of it or not. I do like the way it looks. It's safely far away from neighboring corals so I've decided it's a keeper.

    sponges are harmless and to my knowledge dont hinder corals in any way.... most dont survive in captivity (though the ones in your picture are one of the more resiliant ones) so i wouldnt worry to much. if really you want to kill it off you need to expose is to air for a couple hours.
