I like the look of a mesh lid - so I made one! But the problem is it only works for half my tank (see photo). The issue is that the other side of my tank has the overflow box. I am totally stumped on how to make a lid for the other side. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!! Thank you!! (+K). :)

That's a sweet looking lid you made. Whats the frame made of? Can you make a frame that has a cut-out in the corner for the overflow?

Thank you! I'm pretty proud of it. I used a standard window screen frame from Home Depot. If I use several corners (plastic frame corners) maybe I could make it to fit the outside of the overflow....Make a square "U" shape or something....

Or...push the overflow to the corner and just have the corner of the frame cut to fit the overflow...

ahhh brainstorming session is so helpful!! Lol

Several small ones wouldn't work, but the support beam could. Thanks for the idea!

We did this for our old tank before we got a lid for it (fresh w). I worked out pretty well. We jus JB welded the plastic 'u' (more like a ] but you get the idea) together and it held just fine.

Welcome! If you go slow and take your time on it (depending on how crafty/handy you are) it will look pretty decent. Ours looked pretty good, you couldnt tell we modified it unless you were specifically looking for it.
