Help with modded skimmer

    Ok Everyone, I won a Deltec MCE 600 on ebay for literally 25% of the shop price! Im eager to get it all hooked up, however the guy that owned it before me has made a little modification to the outlet:

    as you can see from the pic, the skimmer is hanging on the side of my tank, but the out let is several inches from the water, now thats going to be noisey! I can not change the outlet, because the one you can see is silconed on!

    So what are peoples suggestions? Initially i was thinking of going to the hardware store and getting some pvc pipe, and stick it in the outlet to basically extened the outlet to reach the water. That should work, no?
    Or if anyone has a better idea, that would be appreciated?! ;D

    I would do exactly what you said bout the PVC - easiest solution IMO

    Not sure about Deltecs, but many skimmers require the water outlet to be above water level.

    The outlet is still gonna be in the same place leaving the unit. Adding pvc will reduce the sound of water falling plus splash and evaporation and you can add an L when its in the water so that it doesnt go str8 down.
