Yesterday I bought a rock with about a dozen red mushrooms on it. I drip acclimated it for a little over an hour. That was about 4 o'clock yesterday, but the mushrooms still aren't opened all the way up! Is the normal? How long does it typically take for these to fully open?

    Thanks for the help guys

What is your Salinity, pH, and Nitrate level?
How long have your lights been on today?

can you get an image up?

have the lights come on yet, as they stay shut during darkness
whats the flow in the area like
what lighting do you have and how does that compare to what they where under?

they can take a few days to acclimatise so nothing major to worry about
but the image would help us form opinions on positioning in relation to flow and lighting

I'll measure the params for yall when I get home! The lights haven't come on yet. I keep them on from 12 noon to 1030pm, then have moonlights on until I go to sleep. I can tell you my ph is usually around 8.1-8.2. But I'll get yall a definite on that. My lights are dual T5 HO, with one 10k and one actinic bulb. I have 875gph flowing in the tank. The shrooms aren't in direct line with any powerheads, but there's no stagnant spots in the tank. I'll post a pic as soon as I get home.

I have had some that waited a good week before opening up all the way. Hard to kill those things, give them time.

They look fine! Prob just still acclimating. Mushrooms tend to not extend as much under high light, do uk what type of lights they were using at the store?

So I just tested my parameters.. PH: 8.2-8.3 Ammonia: 0 Nitrates: 0 Nitrites: 0. I did a 5 gallon water change yesterday, so I think my water is alright. Hopefully they're just taking some time to extend. I'm not sure what type of lights the LFS was using, but I'm 99.99% sure they're more powerful than mine.. As it was a high-end store in Houston. So I suppose that could be it. My tank is much more shallow than the tank they were housed in at the LFS, so who knows. I'll keep yall posted.

Shrooms are hardy resilient little buggers, I suspect yours are just fine.

They do prefer stronger lighting but do well under nearly any condition. Normally they do require a longer acclimation period to adjust to very strong lighting (which may be your case). Usually (as mentioned) they can take up to a week to fully adjust to your parameters as well as lighting and flow.

They look good in the picture you posted, might have been larger in the lfs when you picked them up and they will get there in time.
