I'm going to upgrade my skimmer and I want some opinions on which would be best in the 250.00 range I think maybe the tunze 220/3 or the Aqua C remora pro w/mag 3 but after what I have read it seems maybe there could be something better? I need a hang -on model as I run a sumpless system! HELP !

The Remora will do ok, but won't be too much fun if you like to 'geek out' on your skimmer. I forget my is around sometimes. And when the pump jammed, that was bad. lol!

I had a friend who had an AquaMedic TurboFlotor that was a hang on the back, I was impressed with the amount of bubbles in the chamber and he liked it a lot:

The Tunze I've heard mixed things about, but I can't imagine it's horrible. I believe what I heard is that they under-rate them so if you get one, get one rated for a bigger tank. Probably not the cheapest option for sure.

Thanks for the info Matt! I went with the remora it truly hung on the back where as the tunze sits in the tank. So if something did go wrong it would over flow into the tank! The remora has a bleeder line off the cup I can run to a jug on the floor behind the tank! So at worst I'll pump 3-4 gals. of water out of the tank.
It should be here next week I'll be sure to let you guys know if I have any problems with it!! ;D
    I hope I don't!

Yeah I got the remora pro w/the Mag 3 wow the pump is huge But just like any new skimmer I'm still playing with it to get it right.
Do you have a real dry foam? Mine seems kinda wet! More wet than I like it anyway. Right now I'm running both skimmers on my tank the remora does put out more skim mate but it seems more watery as well.?????????

I have 2 remora's and they will produce dry foam. Have you tried raising the collection cup higher? Also, you may have too much flow and may have to add an inline flow control valve. I just replaced the Rio 1400 pump on 1 of my remora pro's with the new 1400plus and had to add a flow control valve because the new pump had greater flow and the skimmate was to watery.
I love these skimmers they are set and forget.

    Thanks raven !
Do you use the foam pre-filter? I put that on today and it seems better, to soon to tell yet. I have the collection cup up quite a ways now. The first day it worked to best and the cup was all the way down I'm sure it's just "breaking in" and after a few weeks it or I will get into a rhythm

I use a Rio 1400 pump at 420GPH with out the foam filter. And yes there is a break in period of a few days till it starts producing dryer foam. You will love this skimmer because its hassle free. Let me know if you need further help or call Aqua C directly, they have excellent customer support. I needed a new rubber gasket for the collection cup and they sent me 3 for free!

I just saw this and am glad you didn't go with the Tunze. I have a friend with a Tunze. I forgot which model, but it's on a 210 so it's a big boy. He hates it and thinks it's a very over rated POS. He is getting ready to just throw it out.

    Thanks guys'
I always get freaked out when I get a new skimmer. I think they are crap until a month or 2 goes by. Then I figure out how to tweak them to get what I want. This remora is weird to me because it is plug and play I'm used to ball valves and venturi line adjustments etc.
