    That's what I do. I scrub the outside, then put them in about an inch of boiling water until they open naturally. In this way, you can lift them straight out of the pot after they cool (or with tongs) and reserve the clam liquor.

    Those are much bigger than I imagined you meant. Those quahogs are Perfect for chowder. Just cut them up well.

    I threw them right into the blender, everything came out pretty uniform. It's pretty messy but the tank loves it. The only thing that sucks about it being messy is that you can easily add too much.......I just removed my canister filter from the system so I'm only running a skimmer and LR. I had to go in with a net to catch some chunkies that were not eaten, LOL.

    I have the clam shell in the tank right now. Left it to be picked over by the CUC.....nice and clean now, just left it there....

    I have a clam shell in my mantis tank that is epoxied to stay slightly open. My mantis likes to go inside of it.
