I'm e-mailing back and forth with PM actually today, trying to find a solution for my skimming problem. My skimmer is making green tea these days versus coffee. I can't get it to wet skim to save my life. All skimmate cakes inside the riser and won't make it to the collection cup. I'm lucky to get foam hitting the top of the cup, no mater what air and water level I set.

That's exactly what is happening to me. When I first set up my new pump it foamed great nice black sludge for a few days.. now it's back to the same as before. Let me know what they tell you. Also I have to take the beckett apart often to clean this slime out. Not sure where the slime is coming from but it's a very clear thick slime that plugs up the hole in the injector area.

Exactly what happened with me now NO combination of water level or air draw will solve the problem. It cakes so thick inside the riser the bubbles pop before they reach the cup to collect into the cup / waste container.

    Here's what they told me.

Sucks that I've already tried that countless times. I've even tried the set and forget method and quit tinkering. That led to no skimming at all.

I would guess it's your MAG 12. Personally I've given up on MAG pumps their failure rate is way to high and in your case I doubt they are pushing enough water.

I was considering that. Perhaps I should get a panworld or equivalent rated for that skimmer?

Ya if you can go with and external pump you get a lot more options

I can MAKE an external pump work. I just want my skimmer to work consistently :-/

However, it still seems inefficient. I'm thinking sell the Bullet 1 and perhaps get the new Reef Octo cone.

Yeah, I think it's the flow on mine. If I can get really good flow it will skim well. That slime in my injector( which just showed up a few weeks ago) is causing my problems.

    What pump are you using?
