It seems every time I move something around in my tank, sand stirs up, and clouds the water, then layers on top of my live rock I’m curing. I know I should of added the sand after the LR was cured, but didn’t know that when I started. It is also difficult to siphon out the die off of the rock with the sand in the tank. I washed my sand over and over, but I guess it was not good enough.

I'm thinking that in the future when I do add fish, when I add water for a water change, sand will stir up in the water and kill the fish.

Or do you think it will eventually settle? What would you do in this situation?

    Thanks for any suggetions.

eventually it will settle out. Siphoning the debris off of the bottom will help remove small grains of sand

Once your tank builds a good level of bacteria you will have fewer sandstorms. The bacteria help to weigh the sand down. I dont get sandstorms anymore, after 2 months.

How old is the tank? As Nuhtty said, give it time. It will be fine. A little sand won't kill the fish.

If you are really concerned, you can try and remove the sand and wash it through a screen. This will remove the smaller particles, but kill off the bacteria. It' sprobably not worth it at this point.

I also agree, over time the finer particles will settle to the bottom and you will be okay.

Just wanted to add, that my sand doesn't stir up as much as it used to.
