ok, I bought a new, slightly used 180 gal. and with the economy the way it is I also bought a used sump, uv sterilizer, and skimmer. I was a happy camper, till I set it up in the cabinet. the uv and skimmer dont fit! to tall. now I found a braket to use with the uv so I can lay it on its side, but does anyone have a suggestion for the skimmer? its a coralife supper skimmer needle wheel, it can be used as a hang on but I dont want that. If I put it in sump I cant get cap off.

Could drill an overflow hole in the collection cup and attach a hose to a cup you can empty farther down.

you could either drill a hole in the bottom of the collection cup and fit it with a 90* hose barb fitting that would lead to a reservoir like a 1 gallon milk jug, or sell the skimmer and find something that fits better.

well this may sound strange but I had my husband drill hole in the plywoob bottom of tank stand to fit skimmer, then hung it over the side of sump.that dropped it down just enough to take top off. Now I'm hopeing it didn't hurt the integrity of the stand!
