We just installed (last Saturday) 192W of actinic lighting (blue lights) & have been running them for 8 hours a day along with 300W of MH for 6 hours a day.

One of our zoanthid colonies is not looking that great - about 80% of the polyps are closed. This started late Sunday evening - a couple of hours after a 15% water change. Everything else (including the other zoandthids) looks fantastic.

    Water params are all ok:
    ammonia - 0
    nitrites - 0
    nitrates - <10
    phosphates - 0
    calcium - 390
    alk - 10.5dkh
    pH - 8.2
    sg - 1.025

They always have looked great until Sunday.

Could it be because of the new lighting?

    TIA
    julie

have you added anything else? any zoos? Could be a zoo eating nudi. I wouldnt think that the light would have anything to do with it...but it might how long have you had the zoo

is it higher up in the tank then other colonies?
if so it might just be a tad burned from the new lighting

I'm also guessing the new lighting... Give them some time to acclimate themselves...

Thanks for the prompt replies -

It was one of our first corals - got it about 4 1/2 months ago & haven't put anything new in a couple of months.

It's actually lower in the tank than the other colony.

Its probably just sensitive to the new light spectrum and intensity. Every coral is unique in its attitude.

Most people keep their calcium at 450. Don't think this is your problem but might want to check into it.
