Hello, I have one exquisite Wrasse, one yellow damsel and an old tomato clown. I believe the clown is nipping the wrasse and his back fin is getting all torn up. It first happened a few weeks ago i noticed a small tear in his fin and that healed up well and this morning he looked good but now his fin is all messed up. What should i do get rid of the clown? or any suggestions thanks. I have not seen the clown nip him but have seen the clown chase him a bit but a assumed he would not be able to catch the wrasse because he is pretty fast

The wrasse will learn to stay away from the clown eventually, or maybe it won't?

Up to you.....If you were to give the clown back to the LFS, wait awhile and then introduce another clown, the wrasses terratory would be established and there wouldn't be so many problems. Unless you got a maroon clown. They are just plain mean. But ya gotta remember, they are part of the damsel family and have matching attitudes. I have a damsel that is about to go along with my coral beauty. Not only does this thing have attitude, it eats corals. Learned from the CB.

Clowns can be evil fish. They are damsels after all

It probably won't. All of these fairy wrasses are pretty fickle and not as hardy as most other fish. They get stressed out easily and don't have good track records when that happens.

I would say get the wrasse out before you lose him. I am speaking from several hundreds of $$ worth of stressed wrasse losses.

I would remove the clown and damsel. They are inexpensive fish compared to the wrasse. Fairy Wrasse don't do well with very territorial fish.
