    Help please guys,

I woke up this morning and my xenia that I have had for a few weeks is melting!.

You can see that the left side of it is totally melting away. It looks terrible!!.

What can I do to help it?

    My current parameters
    Ammonia: 0
    Nitrate: 0
    pH: 8.2
    Phos: 0.05
    Calcium: 400
    AlK: Dont have a tester
    Mg: Dont have a tester

My tank is 55g that has 50lb of live rock, with a few other LPS which look completely fine. Its just the xenia that seems sick...

My lighting is only a 37W LED that is definately not enough, and I have been looking for a new one this week, if I get a good one ASAP will that help the Xenia?

I have a bit of cyano in the tank because I use tap water, but otherwise the tank has been going well.

    Please help!!!

    Ryan.

    How do you frag it?

Just cut it in half? Because the left seems more affected than the right? With scizzors? Its not a like hard coral you can just break off?

get scissors or a razor blade, cut as close to the rock as possible. Then get some rubble or a frag plug and rubberband it on it for 2-4 days and it will attach. Or if you have one of those body wash loofah things you havent used, rinse it and cut it up, works great to hold frags.

    good luck

I pretty much mutilated it when I tried to frag it as that was my first ever attempt at fragging it. So unfortunately it didn't make it. And to think I am a neuroscientist and dissections are usually easy.... haha.

I have heard some tanks can grow Xenia like weed and others can't grow them at all.

But I had the same stuff as you and it grew like a darn weed, I am happy to say it's now out of my tank. :)
