Well, I'm trying to add a 10gal fuge next to my 90gal tank,

I'm not sure what I should do for getting the water to and from the fuge...I first tried to add a 404 pump to the fuge and the DT,
    [IMG]

But I cant get the water flowing at the same rate to keep the level in the fuge..And I'm really worried about flooding my dinning room if the power goes out and the DT starting to [FONT=Arial,Helvetica]siphon into the Fuge..

I have a Barbed Aquatic Ball Valve coming Friday to adjust the flow, But I'm not sure if this is the best way to set this up?!?!

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated!

    Thanks

I think what i would do if i had to do this would be to take 2 maxi-jets at the same rating, and have one in the DT/Sump, and one in the fuge one pumping in, and one pumping out, and if you do have a power outage, it would just kill the pumps and wouldnt over flow. i would use the angled fittings you have already for water flow in the fuge.

    Thanks shackman!

Yea, I thought of doing that, and wanted to do that at first, But I didnt want to use skimmed water to go in the fuge(Think I read that defeats the purpose) Or fuge water getting skimmed..Is that right?

I would not do 2 pumps
if the power goes out its OK but
if only 1 fails - then your certain of a flood
as the other 1 will continue pumping water into the other container

best bet is proper overflow kit, and single pump in fuge, pumping water back to DT
if the power goes out or pump fails same difference- water stops moving from 1 place to the other

the oveflow needs to be off the self restart syphon type, as otherwise if the power goes out syphon breaks and then pump comes back on, and syphon is not self priming
you still end up with overflow on DT

just some ideas on the site below

    CPR CS Overflow Boxes

    Thanks Steve!

So, Your saying to get a overflow for the DT, and have it go into the fuge, Then pump the water from the fuge back to the DT, Right?

One problem, I only have 2.5" behind my DT and the smallest CPR overflow is 3 7/8"..

I found a Eshopps NANO Overflow
Box that is 2.5", But I dont think it's a restart syphon type!?!?

One more thing, If the power did go out then back on, The water from the fuge wouldn't overflow my DT because it would just add a gal at most into my sump, Right??

yes - I would allow syphon to do work from tank to fuge
and pump to do the work in the other direction

you could maybe fit in on the side of the tank, does not have to hang on back
there may be smaller syphon options available but most critical is the ability to re start after a power out, as otherwise you get water going into tank and no water coming back to fuge = overflow

    Alternative
a simple syphon set up ( U bend etc from cannister filter)
and an external pump fitted to a float switch in the fuge
so if fuge level drops to low, the pump turns off
if the syphon starts again, switch rises and pump comes on again

I had a similar set up on a 55 few yrs ago..(this will only work if there is a sump under the DT)...what I did was drill a bulk head into the side of the fuge tank.. And with a pump pushing water to the fuge tank(from sump) and let that bulk head drain by gravity back to the sump(what goes in, is what comes out.nice and even flow)..
but you could also do it with what Steve said by using an overflow to feed the fuge..and use he bulkhead for the drain..

Please, listen to Steve. Otherwise, you have a catastrophe awaiting.

Never skimp on equipment when it comes to moving water from one tank to another.

I don't have any room for a overflow on the side because of my light, And I should have said this before, But I have a corner overflow in the DT going into my sump..I'm thinking I wont be able to add another overflow going into the fuge because I wouldnt be able to control the flow going into the fuge to match the pump in the fuge..

And, If I was going to run the fuge into the sump wouldn't that defeats the purpose of the fuge??
