    Good day all,
Im a newbie in the coral, have had saltwater tanks for a few years but until recently always had someone doing the dirty work for me, with that help leaving so did the lights and various other items :s

i have an approx. 36in width and 18in depth tank, around 35 gallons, currently i have gsp, colt coral, and two damsels. Im wanting to start more soft corals in my tank but unsure of which lighting would be th best, and for which corals

thank you in advance for your input :)

Well, you have bunch of options for lights. Metal halides great for coral growth, coral colors are very bad, energy bill will go way up and they run hot. LEDs run cool, corals have good growth, cheap energy bill and make corals glow! Go with LEDs!

Personally I like the color of mh but I agree led is better. Keeps the tank cooler and they are cheaper to operate. But they can be pricey. Ai sols and ecotech are my two favorite leds. Metal halides you have a very wide variety plenty of research to find a kit thats best for you

Check out reef breeders what I recommend to everyone. Very affordable and they will support lps and sps as well.
