I don't have either. I would like to start adding both though. Right now, with the exception of a clean up crew, I have the following in the tank:

    -Yellow Tang
    -Pearl Jawfish
    -Manderin
    -2 clowns
    -Lawnmower Blenny
    -Kole Tang

maybe it was the blenny...I've read that as they become larger they will attack tangs and clowns? How's your jawfish, i have one as well and it can be very timid so watch out for the blenny, blenny's and jawfish compatability is a cautionary thing.

I don't know how big your tank is but add two tangs to a tank that already have two tang isn't a get idea unless the tank is huge.

Some clowns can be hugh *****s as well.

Did you notice any aggression between the fish during this period?

    Edited to remove profanity (amcarrig)

My tank is a 6ft, 125. They were going to be the last fish added. I didn't notice ANY aggression at all out of any of them. They all seemed to get along good and were all very active swimming around and eating. It was a real shock. As mentioned, I have had that Royal Gramma for over a year and its corpse was not marred or brused at all. I am still clueless:confused:

Ive learned that tangs that look alike, ie the same kind of body shape generally can't be together. Ive lost and learned on that advice.

The yellow tang died with no warning?

Maybe two or more things are going on here, simultaneously.
    1) Damage from an attack, 2) infection, 3) parasite, 4) toxin(s) 5) ammonia spike after the first fish died. Take your pick.

Sorry for your most recent loss.

You never know, you might still have ammonia lingering. You just never know. Test and find out.
