    OK 3reefer i need a like help, it seems that my Xenia is not doing to well after my misadventure with the silicon the other day

    now my Xenia tip are bleach and it will not open like it use to. but the fun thing the mushroom are opening up and as happy as can be and they never did that before:confused:
    i did a 10% change yesterday and today, and still no luck.
    perm are
    ph 8.5
    alk 3.0 (am getting ready to add some bake soda after this post)
    copper 0
    nitrite 0
    ammonia 0

    first thing I would do is run some carbon. If you got any kind of toxins in the water that will help. I'll tell ya, when my cucumber nuked my 55 all of my corals looked great except for my xenia. I think maybe the reason your shrooms are looking so big is they are actually expanding to to catch more light due to oxygen depletion in the water. (the more light they take in, the more oxygen is produced from photosynthesis)

    Picture is fuzzy but xenia is very hardy and pretty hard to kill. Good luck but I bet it will come back around. Maybe not the heads you are used to looking at but it might grow new ones!

    +1 on carbon, also try wet skimming, and I would do a back to back water change. Xenia is very hardy, but very quick to show sighns of stress

    yes and no. I haven't found any consistency to this coral (yes your's are awesome) but to tell the truth I just had one colony die in my tank and the other is thriving. It honestly depends on the tank.

    in my fluval i have one chamber of carbon, but i have one empty one i will go pick up some more carbon and put in that chamber later today . thank all

    just a update, my Xenia has bounce back and is opening up again.

    side question what is the safest way to get your ph down to 8.0? my ph is about 8.4 after the water change. i am thing of using phlower, to drop it 8.0

    Congrats on your xenia bouncing back!
    Isn't ideal pH 8.2-8.4?

    yea it between 7.8 and 8.5 , but i would like it to be in the low 80s
