    i have taken test of water and my nitrate has gone from normal yesterday to 160 ppm 2day i did put in somesuper buffer to get my ph up last night but apart from that dont know what else it could be what can i do to lower it do i do a water change

    just to add i did a 10 percent water change with normal tap water and i did condition it and added salt could this be problem?

    What was "normal" before? Was normal 0 ppm and it jumped to 160, or was normal 60 and it jumped. That seems like a huge swing. I would retest and be sure you didn't contaminate the test. I'm assuming you're using drops.

    normal was 5.0 have done 3 test one with dip strips and 2 with aquarium pharmaceuticals test drops still the same

    that is a huge jump and I've never seen one this big. BTW if you are using tap water you will never (except in a few cases) get your NO3 down to zero.

    How long this tank been cycling ? around 45 to 60 days or so ? if that close then you are just hitting the second wall and more to follow

    will it be ok until 2mo morning until i get ro water then do i do a water change

    no igot all the muture water when i picked up the tank i only have done 10 percent top up with treated tap water and salt red sea

    have just noticed that my coral that looks like a tree branch has some white substance on a small area of it is this the norm or is this the cause sorry to be so ignorant but new to this sooo diffrent than tropical

    What kind of filtration are you using? Are you using filter socks? a canister filter? something else? I am just reaching here, but it almost sounds like my problem when I did not know I actually had to clean my filter sock and my nitrates went through the roof pretty quickly. It took awhile to get it down with water changes.
