Well I didn't have a chance to spit it out. The air hose was about 1 1/2 feet and being I'm not a pro at it- I suctioned pretty hard and really didn't have a chance to spit out. My husband thought it was funny too but I told him if he ever expects me to do it again he better be doubling that air hose. Thanks for the comments, I'm glad I am not the only one that has done it.

I agree with the potential diarrhea comment. I have started siphon many times and gotton that horrid water in my mouth. Haven't swallowed it, but.....I don't want to think about it.....

 

I have swallowed salt water many times...growing up in southern Orange county CA I spent a lot of time out in the break. Only trew up once after swallowing what seemed like a gallon of seawater....yummy!! Never really got sick just a little naucious for a few mins. Swallowing a gulp or two of your tank water should not hurt. Never swallowed any of my tank water but it can't be worse than natural seawater!!
