Good news I think the QT is going to help a lot. I hope things start to look up for you and your fish.

Think I should QT the urchin too? I am going to be treating with chemicals though for the fish. Not sure how this effects an urchin.. from what the LFS said ti only effects plants so he should be okay in the QT

Not sure if I would put him in there. Your DT have the food built up that he needs to survive. Mainly this is just a bump though cuz Im not sure how desease effects urchins.

Okay.. update... got everything setup. Fish in the QT with medicine. How long should they stay in there. The water is wicked blue.

    Params on display are
    PH 7.8 (low)
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrates 0

So the stuff we grabbed last night Mike worked.
Going to replace the 10g of water I stole from the display for the QT as just a regular water change. Will this raise my PH back up?

Are the spots the size of say salt or finer and closer together?

Also I am somewhat concerned that moving something in the tank would/could cause a "cycle"... all that sounds like an old wive's tale to me. I have moved/transfered so many tanks now, I no longer believe in these "cycles" outside of an initial cycle... And no don't misconstrue my words if you do something ridiculous to your tank, it could revert to a cycle but that would entail something FAR from disturbing the substrate or moving rock.

Is this the 75 gal tank?

Whoops, somehow missed this second page..... disregard post!

It is straight powder... like the are covered with dust.. not so much even spots. As of now they are in the QT with the medicine. Its very odd looking. Like their skin is peeling would be a good way to put it.

No this is the 37 gallon.. the 75 is still awaiting its sump/plumbing/etc

the Urchin wont be affected by the parasite
but would be affected by the chemicals used in the QT - keep the urchin in the DT, IMO

Just came back... i figured out the issue. It was ammonia I believe. I took my canister filter apart and it burnt my nose and hands to touch it. I lost one more clarkii but the other fish are back in the DT now and doing great... and will soon be moving out of the 37slums into their new mansion (keep an eye on the build threads).
