Well I put all the fish except the goby in the sump and they seem alot better there then in the main tank. The problem is the goby still seems extremly stressed and it doesnt seem like I am getthen oxygen into the tank I have the power head pointed at the surface and I have 2 airstones. What can I do to bring the oxygen levels back up. And also the dt is very cloudy and I am really not sure why

*** just had to take the goby out of the dt because there was no oxygen.

Could this be due to the fact I moved the skimmer from the display to the sump? Im really starting to get frustrated it seems like I did a whole lot of work for nothing at all.

It does helps aerate, but a lot of it comes from the "trickle" effect or anytime water is allowed to be exposed to the atmosphere in a manner to allow said atmosphere into enter the water column, the most effective manner being droplet.

Stress was most likely caused by the addition of the new water (however much was in your sump/fuge). Think of a situation similar to a big water change or overly fast acclimation.

Well I have all the fish in the sump. I tried to put the goby back in the dt but he looked like he was about to die. So clearly my dt is not getting the oxygen it should which really doesnt make sense why the sump is and the dt isn't.

you dont have a tight fitting cover glass on the DT do you?
and the sump is open topped?

I cant figure out why if the water is circulating oxygen levels would not be the same in both compartments

how long has the sump been plumbed in and running - it might take a while for the water in both aspects to equalise , thats all I can think of at present

is there something else in the DT that we have overlooked thats not affecting the sump?

Sorry, wish I had instant answers for you

I have a hood on the dt and the back has a hole for equipment. I found some screen so I put it over the refrgium part of the sump and I'm just gonna leave the fish in there for tonight and try and let the water circulate. the only thing I can tell you right of the top of my head is that the dt is cloudy from when I started the sump and for the most part hasn't changed and idk why

dont cover either IMO - you need good gas exchange - mesh is ok or egg crate but anything solid prevents CO2 escaping which wont help

how much flow is going through? how many returns do you have 1 or more than 1?
