Does anyone know why a brand new ballast and a completely compatible, brand new bulb would only stay lit for 30 minutes at a time?

The ballast is a sunpark 40 watt electronic ballast
The bulb is a 40 watt power compact
Needs to be turned off for several minutes before it will work for another 30 min.

Perhaps. Would the bulb kick the light out or the ballast?

It seems to take the same amount of time to shut off every time and there is definitely some sort of reset occurring.

Is the ballast the one initiating the shutdown?

I contacted the ballast manufacturer. They said, "That shouldn't be happening." Which is exactly how I feel, but not terribly helpful.
